PFA seizes 14,215 litres rancid cooking and palm oil


The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has caught two trucks filled with 14,215 litres rancid cooking oil and palm oil while taking action against them on Saturday.
The thousands of litres dirty oil was being carried on the vehicle numbers LES 1931 and FED 9268 from Patoki and Dena Nath in Lahore.

PFA Director General (R) Captain Muhammad Usman said that used ediable oil and palm oil were collected from different  shops in the name of soap making. Meanwhile, these oil were used  as a alternative of dairy fats in different dairy products.He told that adulterators used palm oil to produce fats in tainted milk. He further said that the Punjab Food Authority has started investigation to probe this matter after  failing to  enter this  consignment in  Lahore. The use of dirty oil may leads cancer, cardiac and  fatal diseases. He said the rancid oil can be used in the preparation of biodiesel as per the  PFA  Law. The  director  general added  that PFA has  vowed to eliminate  counterfeiters  from Punjab according to the vision of Punjab Government.
