Ban on Cola Drinks: PFA checked over four thousand schools, issued 2276 warning notices, sealed 55 canteens.


January 10: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) inspected more than four thousand schools to ensure the ban on the sale of carbonated drinks. In this regard 55 school’s canteens were sealed whereas more than 2276 were served with the warning notices during last four months.

 

According to details, on the direction  of Director General (DG) PFA Noor ul Amin Mengal, PFA’s food safety teams under the supervision of  Food Safety Officers (FSOs) have conducted thousands of follow up visits among schools located across the Punjab for rechecking that schools are strictly following ban on carbonated drinks or not.

 

In this regard, DG PFA Noor ul Amin Mengal also had several meetings with Secretary School Education, office bearers of private schools association, school administrations and civil society for this noble cause. He has applauded the corporation of all stakeholders in the regard.

 

Noor ul Amin Mengal said that PFA is full active and taking strict action to ensure the implementation of PFA Regulation 2017 and Act without considering any pressure group. He further said that action is being taken against violators as per law. DG has appealed citizens to report in PFA office or PFA Facebook page in case of observed violating in schools.
